DECLARATION
1. I have read and understood the rules of the Norse Film & Pageant Society by which rules I agree to be bound. I agree not to hold the Norse Film & Pageant Society nor any member thereof responsible for
any loss, damage or injury to myself or my property whilst engaged in any activity of the Society. Inclusive of Insurance covering Accident or injury.
2. Provincial Members: I agree to pay £5.00 Annual Subscription, renewable on the First of January each year.
3. London Sveiter Members: I agree to pay £1.50 membership fee and 15p subscription per week thereafter.
4. I understand that my membership and its continuance of renewal is subject to the approval of the Chief and his Council.
5. I agree to dress and equip myself suitably and to acquaint myself with the basic training in the use of the sword, shield, spear and axe as soon as possible. I will not take part in any Society pageant or melee until I have been approved capable of using these weapons by the Society leader or his Master-at-Arms.
6. I agree and recognise that although the Society is largely social in concept a principal function of the Society is to re-enact Viking Battles and Sagas, to take part in Pageants and to teach skill-at-arms
7. I agree that whilst in the Society I will follow the rulings of the Chief and his Council to the best of my ability and integrity.
8. I have read and fully understand the enrolment form and the Society rules and by signing this declaration, I do hereby commit myself to abide by them.

Those wishing to join the Society for administration or academic purposes section 5 will not apply, but you will be required to present yourselves in suitable Viking attire (see handbook) at all main functions.


RULES OF THE NORSE FILM AND PAGEANT SOCIETY
(Hereinafter called the Society)
1) The Society shall elact a leader once each year, who shall control the activities of the Society within that period.
2) The leader will at all times be guided and supported in his decisions by a council of no less than three other members holding an equal standing to each other within the Society but lower than the leader who shall also be part of the council.
3) The leader shall be responsible for bringing a list of current affairs before an assembly of council members and any other who care to attend Society meetings.
4) The meetings shall be held regularly every Thursday evening from 8.50pm at a place know or duly reappointed by the leader unless any such meeting shall hinder or clash with a previously and officially arranged activity concerning a majority of the members.
5) Each weekly meeting shall instrument the announcing of new members, the collecting of weekly and annual membership dues, the issuing of membership cards, booklets, rules and show engagement dates, and any other matter the members care to bring to the notice of the assembly.
6) All members of the Society shall pay an annual subscription. Provincial membership fee is £5.00, whilst London branch members will pay £1.50 plus a further 15p per week towards the added amenities provided by that branch.
7) All members will deem it their duty to further the Society's interests, financially, materially and spiritually by any activity approved by the council.
8) The Treasury of the Society shall not be held responsible for any financial or material losses brought upon a member by himself due to acting without approval from the assembled council.
9) An insurance scheme approved by the Council of the Society shall be employed to cover the Society's liability against any Public claims brought about by accidental misfortune incurred by observers, bystanders, etc.. at any Pageant conducted or participated in by members of the Society. The scheme shall be paid for out of Society funds at no extra cost to the members.


RULES CONTINUED:
10) All outgoing sums from the Treasury of the Society must be met with a suitable bill or receipt to be retained for accountancy
11) All income beyond a petty float as deemed proper by the treasurer shall be banked in the Society's account. (Barclay's Bank)
12) The Society Treasurer shall hold a cheque book for payment of the Society's debts and all cheques shall be dually signed by the two Officers whose names have been supplied on the appropriate form held by Barclay‘s Bank.
15) Members of the Society who attend a Pageant or other show event and take upon themselves, a task for the day of that event toward the smooth running of the occasion, shall receive a remuneration whenever possible.
14) All members shall conduct themselves in a proper manner before the public and at no time endanger the Society's image, particularly, by actions likely to be considered dangerous to the public or other unsuspecting members of the Society.
15) It is the duty of the leaders of the Society to control by reminding or reprimanding members of the Society against such actions.
16) It is the duty of the leaders of the society as Marshals in the field of action to observe qualities in the members of the Society and recommend them for upgrading in membership
17) Any member who shall fail to keep his word without very good reason after completing and returning a pageant attandance slip from an official Society circular, stating positive attendance, risks a serious possibility of instant dismissal from the society
18) All members shall carry their membership cards at all functions and shall produce them as a means of identification when registering with the attendance officer. Any member failing to do so will forfeit any payment which may have resulted through doing so
19) The Society will not accept any member under the age of 18 yrs. False declaration of age will render the member to instant dismissal from the Society
20) Full members of the Society may, with the council's permission, bring their children to events and
meetings provided that the said children be in full care, custody and protection of the parents at all times
21) The Society shall not be held responsible or recognise liability to any person other than members of the Society or members of the public as in rule 9.
